Dave is an upper limb surgeon, with particular interest in shoulder and elbow Surgery.
He trained in the north-east, and on the Sheffield shoulder and elbow fellowship, and has been a Consultant in Northumbria Healthcare Trust for 10 years.
He was Northern Orthopaedic Trainer of the Year in 2014.
He is currently an examiner for FRCS (T&O), and Regional Specialty Professional Advisor in orthopaedics to the Royal College of Surgeons and the BOA.
He served in the army reserve for 19 years.
